GATA DE GORGOS

 

Hello, we are Raúl and Miguel and we live in the town of Gata de Gorgos in the Alicante Region known as the Marina Alta.  We are going to show you a few things about our town.


Shopping

In Gata, you can enjoy shopping in many traditional shops.

These are our favourite ones. They are mainly located in the N332 road Valencia-Alicante, which divides the town into two parts.



First, there is a ceramic shop.

There you can find a great variety of plates, jars and tiles in many colours.





The most known tiles are the “socarrats”: a thick baked clay tile painted in red, brown and black colours. They were used for ceilings. The pictures represents some stories of our past.













You can also find some clay containers for giving drink the birds.  There are also for people!!! and they are called “canterelles”. You can drink fresh water during all the summer without using any fridge. Try to find which one is each!!





















There´s a shop called “El celler de la Marina”. And it has a lot of wine, honey and oil. There are some hats and gifts. It´s a traditional shop of Gata de Gorgos.

           


In the entrance, you can find a copy of the machine that was used for making hats.

                    

The most famous shops in Gata are those dedicated to products made of palm-like bags and carrycots. There are several of them and a lot of tourists come to visit them.

Flyers Photo Assignment - 15th May 2021

  The Flyers photo assignment is an annual event in the Flyers Saturday Club lesson calendar. It is a fun module that is enjoyed by all the students. We start off the day by first of all discussing the vocabulary that is used in the world of photography followed by a look at some of the equipment that can be used. This term there was an emphasis on this subject to link in with the topic of my town. After the theory, the students are given an assignment and in their groups, they go outside to take photos of the following categories - Landscape: Nature: Sport: Portrait: Selfie: Black and White: Fun Aleis, Sebastian and Salva look towards the Meditteranean to take a photo of a Landscape.
